Promoting employment integration by extending our educational partnerships With more than 32 educational partnerships in 2020, we remain fully committed to high-quality education for students by identifying and developing the skills that will unlock career opportunities for them in the world of work. Our contribution begins pre-university through the work we do on career choice guidance in secondary schools. For example, our French subsidiaries work with agricultural and vocational secondary schools to introduce students to the careers we can offer. For graduate students, we contribute to the creation of research chairs that promote knowledge transfer between companies and universities. That contribution is well illustrated at TIMAC AGRO España, which has created the TIMAC AGRO, “Pioneros por Naturaleza” (Pioneers for Nature) research chair in conjunction with the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). This initiative has helped TIMAC AGRO España broaden its potential for innovation, deliver training in sustainable agriculture OUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF OUR OPERATING REGIONS HAS NEVER BEEN HIGHER THAN IT WAS IN 2020. #2 BOOSTING LOCAL ECONOMIES and open up opportunities for internships, scholarships and national and international meetings. To help improve access to education in our key sectors, we also offer scholarships like that introduced by TIMAC AGRO Italia in conjunction with the Campus Bio- Medico University of Rome (UCBM) to train food supply chain specialists. Lastly, our employees made more than 57 presentations in schools worldwide during 2020, passing on their knowledge and expertise, and inspiring young people to become the next leaders of the food and production value chain. Contributing to the regional economy of Brittany We are particularly attached to the port of Saint-Malo (France) and its surrounding region, because both have played an important role in our development, from the opening of our historic production plant in 1959 to the current head office and the Centre Mondial de l’Innovation Roullier (CMI Roullier). So to make our contribution to its dynamic economy through practical involvement at local and regional levels, we work closely with the schools, business networks and sports clubs of Brittany (France), as well as providing local employment. Our commitment to education is reflected in a series of long-term partnerships, some of which were either formed or continued during 2020. They include our partnerships with IGR-IAE Rennes, Agrocampus Ouest, Confédération Nationales des Juniors Entreprises (regional partnership), Rennes School of Business, University of Rennes 1 and others. In 2020, our employees organised, hosted or were present at 34 lectures, courses and jobs forums either in academic settings or as virtual events. We also recruited 91 interns locally during the year. In addition to helping young people into the world of work, we also recruited around 305 new employees during the year, despite the health crisis. In doing so, we support not only employment, but also local companies by helping to coordinate business sectors and promote the expertise and values of Brittany- based businesses. As an active member of the ‘Made in Brittany’ labelling scheme since 2003, Pâtisseries Gourmandes is fully committed to this form of skills transfer, and partners many local cultural events, including The Vieilles Charrues and the Lorient Interceltic music festivals. In sport, we offer our employees and their families the opportunity to get involved with more than thirty activities through our long-established AS Timac sports club, which works in partnership with many local clubs and professional sports men and women, and are delighted to include local residents in some of our activities and events; none more so than the 14 Km mixed-terrain La Passagère race. Although our contribution to local economic dynamism is concentrated particularly around our traditional locations, it applies much more widely to the areas in which we operate through initiatives and takes many forms, including collaborations with local authorities and partnerships with non-profit organisations.
