Cité marine enters into negotiations with Groupe Roullier For the acquisition of Halieutis Fish& Co

Cité Marine, a subsidiary of Japanese group Nissui, and Groupe Roullier have entered into negotiations to consider a proposed sale of Halieutis Fish & Co, a subsidiary of Groupe Roullier, based in Lorient (France) and specialising in frozen seafood products.

Founded in 1973 and part of Groupe Roullier since 1996, Halieutis Fish & Co has 85 employees. It has a powerful manufacturing base and renowned expertise combined with a bold marketing policy. The company, however, faces a highly competitive environment. “Halieutis Fish & Co is one of Groupe Roullier’s significant companies in the Brittany region. Considering, however, that this company represents less than 1% of our turnover, we currently feel that it would be better to find a counterpart in the frozen fish sector with complementary strengths. Cité Marine meets the conditions of job and factory preservation that we hold dear,” says Henri Boyer, President of the Executive Board of Groupe Roullier.

Founded in 1990, Cité Marine is the French leader in fish and processed vegetables in the consumer and professional markets. Its teams comprise 1,000 employees at four production plants in Brittany and Normandy and have expertise that is recognised by its customers. The diversity and relevance of its product lines provide it with significant growth in all its markets. “This alliance with Halieutis Fish & Co is fully consistent with our ongoing and proactive development strategy. I am convinced of the relevance of the synergy between Cité Marine and Halieutis Fish & Co to continue to bring more innovation and quality to the frozen fish market, in line with consumer expectations,” stressed Eric Le Henaff, CEO of Cité Marine.

The representative bodies of Halieutis Fish & Co’s staff were informed of this transaction, and are currently being consulted to give their opinion on the proposed operation.
